Hello Nicole and Guests!
It's Sue Lynch from Crossroads. I've enjoyed what I've seen and read so far, so, I thought I'd step up and introduce myself. I'll give a few facts about myself, too. Nicole, I always enjoy seeing your bright and smiling face at church, and I always enjoy hearing you sing. Coming to church to worship through song is always a special time for me.
So, I guess I'll take a little time now and say a few things about myself. I grew up here in Washington, and I'm the youngest child of four children. There were three of us girls, along with my brother. Sadly, my second sister and I are the only people in our family still living. That whole transition hit us hard in January, which is when our dad passed away at the age of 91. So, I graduated high school in 1980. A month after graduating I met my husband, Mike, and we were married in 1982. Yes, that's right, we are celebrating our 42nd anniversary this October. After spending 4 and a half years with Mike in the Army, we came back home to Washington in 1987. We have two sons, Steven (39) and Paul (37). We've lived in Yelm for almost 20 years, and we have been going to Crossroads for almost the same amount of time.
While our boys were in school, I periodically worked as a teacher assistant. Once we moved to Yelm, I worked in childcare, and I also did some volunteer work in our church office at the downtown location. Although it's been quite a while, I've also enjoyed being a volunteer in church ministries.
Now, I enjoy reading a whole lot, averaging about 35 books a year. We have three cats that I love spending time with. I enjoy feeding the squirrels that live in and around our yard. I would like to get back into ministry work at some point in the near future, but I'm still trying to figure out how to put that in motion.
Well, I think that about covers everything for now. Thanks for reading!
Well, shoot. I typed up a whole thing and when I tried to publish it the app said it was spam and wouldn't let me. What a bummer
Nicole, this is so great! I have it in my heart to help women walk with Jesus in a way that honors Him. This is just a great path to be able to connect!!!
I am a wife, mom of one teen boy, sister to three, a nurse (working on the IT side) and love to help people grow. I live with my husband, son, mother in law, chewy the German shepherd and two cats.
I want to garden- but have a knack for killing green things. I’m workong on turning that around.
I love reading and learning about neuroscience and psychology of change and why we do things. The way God created us is so fascinating!
Two of thr books that have had the biggest impact on me in the past two years is: Think again by Adam grant (it challenges us to think differently- and shows us why it’s so hard.) and the Ruthless elimination of hurt by John Mark Comer (how to get closer to Jesus by being brutal in how we manage our time).
Thanks for being here! I hope you've read the "About Me" page but some things that I didn't put on there that I enjoy: canning (especially jams), chocolate lover, avid reader, sucker for a good tear jerker of a movie, sun lover. When I lived back home in San Diego, I was always out in the ocean either laying in the sand or bobbing in the waves. I miss that greatly.
So if anyone is near the beach, take in some extra sun and sand for me! We
discovered Oahu last summer and fell in love with the waters, the people, the delicious food, and all the neat things to see. Maybe the community will be large enough by the next time we visit so I can say hi!
