Matthew 5:14-16- "14 You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven" (ESV).
It gets harder every day to shine the light in a world that can seem overwhelming, terrifying, sad, heavy, exhausting. Yet the good news is, we have the light of God burning bright inside of us. A light that cannot be extinguished and sets hills ablaze with its glory. This is the light that this page, Manna Mama, believes in greatly enough, to have created this community so we may burn bright together, usher in those that may not know the Lord, and those that crave womanly community. Mahalo. Welcome.
My Story
My life is far from how I dreamed it up when I was younger, even five years ago. But this is the most beautiful life I could have ever asked for. God knew what my heart needed and knew exactly how He would lead me here. That isn't to say it hasn't been without trauma, trials, tears, and times of lamenting. Here I am though, with a fantastic husband and best friend, a Mama to two amazing kids, three dogs, two cats, four goats, and too many chickens to count.
I am a pediatric registered nurse moving into a new season of becoming an elementary school teacher. I am on my church's worship team and love being able to hear as everyone sings and praises. I am an avid flower gardener (in the few months that the PNW has that good sunshine) and with the help of my family, we have a hobby garden and a small orchard.
Throughout my years, I have learned that I am not in control. In the moments where I don't hand over the reigns to God, it all crumbles before me. However, as I have walked through some of the scariest and darkest moments of life, there has been no greater comfort or strength than knowing that I have the Light in the midst of the overwhelming darkness.
This page, Manna Mama, came to me one day stamped firmly on my heart. Without question, I knew this to be a project I must see through. It is a complete leap of faith. To openly share faith that goes against the grain of today's culture is terrifying, yet Jesus and his disciples ministered greatly, conquering fear and spreading truth. Here, I speak and share from the heart in hopes of connecting heart strings together across miles through stories I share of every day life, of uplifting prayers and Bible verses, and open forums for connection and discussion.
As a community, we can gather here to remind ourselves that we are not alone: as a woman, a mom, a mama, a friend, a person, a spouse, a partner, a child of God. We get the privilege and the honor to connect, to share, to laugh, to cry, to strengthen, and to love one another in the beauty that is Light. Here, in the promise of His grace and forgiveness, and in the calling to shine bright on the top of a hill for all to see, so great it is, that we may share in His glory together.
